BioMaxima prepares to launch FOB test
2011-12-13
BioMaxima, the listed supplier of in vitro diagnostics equipment and reagents, is in the final stages of developing and commercialising a faecal occult blood (FOB) test, a first for a Polish firm, the company announced in its monthly report for November. The product, whose development is supported by EU funds, has successfully passed a trial at the Military Specialty Hospital in Lublin, BioMaxima said.
In the eleven months to the end of November sales at BioMaxima reached almost PLN 9.2m (€2m), an increase of 40.7% compared with the same period a year earlier. Sales of expendables and services, which have emerged as the chief source of revenue in the course of this year, leapt more than five-fold to exceed PLN 3.2m (€0.7m). Sales of reagents and tests, the second- and third-biggest category, rose by single digits, while sales of urine tests and (especially) equipment were lower than a year earlier.
In January-November BioMaxima won new contracts worth just over PLN 3.9m (€0.9m), up by 4.9% from the same period of 2010 and a record high for this time of year.
The company also restated plans to finalise one M&A deal in Poland before the end of the year.
