Romanian health minister announces work on new draft healthcare law

Ritli Ladislau, the Romanian health minister, has announced that work on a new healthcare law proposal will start in the near future. Mr Ritli stated that reform is needed in Romanian healthcare, as it faces a number of problems, including funding and the quality of medical services. The new project will be particularised in cooperation with doctors, lawyers and representatives of patients and unions and then presented to the government. The health minister also estimated 3-6 months as the period for consultations pertaining to the project before it is proffered for public debate.

Central Europe Pharma News on a previous occasion, on 13 January 2012, Traian Basescu, the president of Romania, asked the prime minister to withdraw the healthcare reform project which had been offered for public debate on 28 December 2011.
