Ministry reports hundreds of reimbursement applications
2012-02-09
By 8 February pharmaceutical companies or their authorised representatives have submitted several hundred applications for the inclusion of medicinal products in the list of reimbursed medicines, the Health Ministry spokeswoman Agnieszka Golabek announced, adding that new applications were coming “daily”. She added that some of these applications concerned off-label uses. The list is expected to be updated on 1 March.
Meanwhile, the ministry has appointed a Transparency Board, a 10-member panel consisting of healthcare experts and representatives of the ministry, the National Health Fund (NFZ), the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Product (URPL) and the patients’ rights ombudsman, which will issue recommendations for reimbursement applications. It will replace the Advisory Panel of the Health Technology Assessment Agency (AOTM).
The announcements came on the eve of the coming into law of an amendment to the Reimbursement Act enacted by the Sejm on 13 January.
