The Cardiology Centre in Jozefow near Otwock (Mazowieckie voivodship) is the latest healthcare entity to join Lifenet, the medical information system developed by Physio-Control, a Polish unit of Medtronic, the global medical devices maker.
The new medical receiving station at the Jozefow centre will serve six surrounding districts of the Mazowieckie voivodship. At the moment, 21 ambulance vehicles in the area are equipped with Lifepak 12 defibrillators that enable wireless transmission of patient data to cardiologists at the receiving station.
The addition of the Jozefow centre lifts the number of participating healthcare entities in Mazowieckie to 12, higher than in any other voivodship. Overall the Lifenet system consists of more than 45 stations in all voivodships.
The objective of Lifenet is to cut the time for transporting heart-attack patients for angioplasty by enabling immediate consultation with cardiologists, thereby optimising decision-making.
The system was initiated in 2004.
