2010-08-17
Stada Hemofarm, the subsidiary of
Stada Arzneimittel, the German pharmaceutical firm, reported a 7.6% y-o-y increase in sales turnover in Poland in the first half of the year (albeit from a low base), to €1.56m. When adjusted for currency effects and changes to group portfolio, growth was higher at 15%.
Total group sales of Stada rose 3% in yearly terms during this period, to €778.1m, whereas in Eastern Europe, a region that includes Poland, they were up by 5% y-o-y to €173.3m.
The positive result on the
Polish pharmaceutical market was powered by a 52% y-o-y jump in sales of branded products, which amounted to €1.2bn in the six months to June. By contrast, sales of generics dropped by 44% to €0.4m.
Stada established a direct presence in Poland only in the first quarter of 2009. Until then it had been present in the country through export sales.
