The voivodship hospital in Zielona Gora is planning to purchase modern MRI equipment worth PLN 4m (€1m). The hospital is to pay only PLN 0.6m (€0.15m) for the equipment, the remaining sum will be covered by the Ministry of Health from the National Programme for Cancer Prevention.
At the same time the hospital authorities have decided to withdraw from a contract with Euromedic, the pan-European medical services provider, which performed contract MRI testing for the hospital. The hospital used to pay Euromedic PLN 8-10m (€1.9-2.5m) for the examinations each year. The contract expires in November 2011, and the hospital will not extend it and will use its own equipment instead.
