AOTM to evaluate four drugs and five health programmes

At its 17th meeting on 30 August the Health Technology Assessment Agency (AOTM) was to adopt recommendations regarding the inclusion on the list of guaranteed health procedures of two medicines used to treat pulmonary hypertension: Thelin (sitaksentan, Encysive) and Volibris (ambrisentan, GlaxoSmithKline), both within the therapeutic programme. The Agency was also to decide about changing the conditions of treatment or withdrawal from the list of guaranteed health procedures of the therapeutic programme with Velcade (bortezomib, Janssen-Cilag) in the treatment of multiple myeloma. Furthermore, the Agency was also to evaluate the clinical efficiency and safety of the biosimilar drug Zarzio (filgrastim, Sandoz) in the treatment of neutropenia in oncology patients.
Finally, the Agency was to issue opinions on five public-health programmes developed by local authorities, of which three concerned cervical cancer prevention and two pneumococcal infections prevention.
