Bioton moves into net profit in H1 2010

The consolidated sales of Bioton, the Polish biopharmaceutical manufacturer, increased by 6% y-o-y in the first six months of the year to PLN 124.9m (€31.2m). The sale of Bioton’s antibiotics business to Polpharma enabled Bioton to turn a net loss of PLN 47.5m (€11.8m) in H1 2009 into a substantial net profit of PLN 21.5m (€5.3m) as at the end of June 2010. The value of the transaction including the sale of manufacturing plant in Duchnice amounted to PLN 82.2m (€20.5m). The company improved by 7% its sales in the domestic market and started deliveries to China and Israel.
