Domzdrowia.pl posts slight fall in H1 sales
2010-09-07
Domzdrowia.pl, the online drug retailer, reported a 1.3% y-o-y drop in sales revenues for the first half of the year, to PLN 3.7m (€0.94m). The negative result reflects a deterioration in sales performance in the second quarter, after an increase of over 4% y-o-y recorded in the three months to March. At the same time, the company sharply narrowed its losses on the net and operating levels, helped by a 5% reduction in costs.
In a statement, CEO Jacek Denkowski attributed the slight fall in revenues to weakness in the Polish drug retailing market in the January-June period, which was characterised by a slackening of demand. He stressed that unlike many drug retailers, Domzdrowia.pl was focusing on improving margins and on service quality, and was not prepared to engage in price competition just to maintain sales levels.
The number of visits to the company’s website surged by 20% to 4.3 million.
In the third quarter Domzdrowia.pl aims to complete work on a partnership programme for partner websites, which is expected to drive higher sales and increase the scale of marketing activities.
