14% increase in sales of Sopharma in August 2010

Sopharma, the largest Bulgarian drug manufacturer, reports a 14% month-on-month increase in sales revenues for August 2010. Export sales grew by 20% month-on-month, whereas sales on the domestic market remained at the same level as those of the previous month. The company’s sales results therefore recovered after a 23% month-on-month decline in July, accompanied by a significant decline in export sales to Russia.
Sopharma’s cumulative sales revenue for the eight months of this year increased by 17% in comparison with the corresponding period of 2009, including a 27% increase in export sales.
Meanwhile, following the 23 June Annual General Meeting of shareholders, Sopharma’s Board of Directors has announced the redemption of company shares. Up to 3,960,000, or 3% of all shares issued by the company, will be purchased. The redemption of shares will be carried out within 24 months.
